During the Fall of 2004, a group of four intellectual and determined women from the University at Buffalo came together to join an organization that would meet their needs. An organization that would help them reach their goals and also to help promote the Latino Culture and allow individuals to become familiar with their heritage. By doing so, they aspired to abolish ignorance, promote sisterhood, leadership and stand for the accomplishments of academic excellence..
On January 9, 2005, the women of “Abriendo El Camino Con Amor, Fe, Dedicacion y Paciencia” realized their dreams, as they became the founding Hermanas of the SUNY at Buffalo Colony of the Most precious and yet So Rare Organization of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. And they are:
